Alex is a South Australian Composer, Music Producer, Filmmaker, Technologist and Innovator.
He conceives works across artistic platforms and integrates technology into new performance contexts. His artistic endeavours include the technical architecture and the co-creation of pioneering works in partnership with Director Amanda Phillips. These projects include:- The 360-degree virtual reality production Otanical, the award-winning 3xperimentia: Live Cut in 3D; Australia’s first fulldome dance film Future Memory; and, the real-time public artwork MASS: Moving Audience Street Sculpture. He collaborates internationally as a technologist and architect and consulted for the Illuminart/Goyte installation Fractured Heart.
A graduate of Elder Conservatorium, Alex trained in composition under Professor Graeme Koehne. His music is regarded as a “sonic tour de force” and his scores for dance, theatre and film have been performed in SE-Asia and Australia. In 2018 Alex was commissioned by the Guangdong Modern Dance Company (Taiwan) to create the score for their work The Spring Tide. This was the first ever Australia-China-Taiwan co-production.
As a filmmaker, Alex co-facilitates Digital Moves and GoFilm! educational programs throughout Primary and Secondary Schools in SA with Amanda Phillips, creating over 100 short films with students since 2010.
Alex regularly co-creates & produces commercial projects, as well as artistic endeavours. He has been a part of Felicity Arts since 2008.
